Although the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of private investigators is the show, "Cheaters," there's a lot more to private investigating than one might think. The most common reasons for hiring a private investigator is to locate a missing person, or to investigate infidelity with the client's spouse. However, there are many services offered that can assist you in a circumstance where your control is limited.
Private investigators can provide tracking services, such as investigation into suspicion of wrongdoing in business practices, tax or insurance fraud or evasion, worker's compensation claims, and unemployment claims.
Many parents even hire investigators to track their teenager's whereabouts when suspicion of drug use is in play. Investigators also have legal cases where they may go through someone's trash to find what they are spending their money on, or what medication they are using.
Investigators often have access to a number of legal documents, medical details, and security footage that other people may not be able to access. Investigators have licenses and permits to find personal information not available to civilians, such as past addresses, relatives, employment information, and criminal records. Although it may be extreme snooping with private investigators, it's all legal - if you can afford it.
